We impact the lives of people on a daily basis and touch the lives of people each year in all ages and stages of life in all communities of Rhode Island by educating the public about mental illness, offering resources and support to all whose lives are touched by mental illness; and advocating at every level to ensure the rights and dignity of those with mental illness and promoting research in the science and treatment of mental illness.
We reach out through more than six different educational programs to families, consumers and the general public. NAMI Rhode Island also provides opportunity for hundreds of people each year to be directly involved in our mission to bring wholeness and hope. I hope you will investigate further the opportunities to involve yourself in this work. You may decide you want to come visit us, volunteer for a few days, or build support in your community for our mission that continues to make a difference in the lives of so many. Let us know how you want to be a partner with us.
The mission to promote recovery, reduce stigma, and improve health care and treatment for those living with a mental illness and their families requires a strong advocacy effort. Equally required, is awareness of the many issues that touch the lives of those that NAMI Rhode Island serves. We work with state and federal agencies and our elected officials on a regular basis to assure that laws and regulations do no harm and indeed work to improve lives. NAMI Rhode Island also has an excellent relationship with state health care organizations and provider groups, working collaboratively to achieve a better mental health system for all Rhode Island citizens. Mental Illnesses is devastating to the people with them and to their families as well. Support is an absolute necessity to get through the various stages of these illnesses. We are here to be that support….
Again, Thank You for supporting the mission.
